Okay, it’s not Obama, whose many constitutional violations warrant impeachment, but at least the GOP-dominated Congress is doing something to hold the Obama Regime accountable.

On Tuesday, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, led by Republican Congressman from Utah Jason Chaffetz, along with 18 other members of the Committee, introduced a resolution to begin impeachment proceedings against Obama IRS Commissioner John Koskinen for a multitude of examples of “violating the public trust.”
In regards to the Obama IRS’s unconstitutionally targeting the pro-Constitution, pro-freedom American Tea Party movement for their political beliefs, which run contrary to the Obama Regime’s totalitarian stance, the Committee charges the Obama IRS head with failing to comply with a congressionally issued subpoena, destroying documents and misleading the public.

“John Andrew Koskinen, in his conduct while Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, engaged in a pattern of conduct that is incompatable with his duties as an Officer of the United States,” the resolution states. “Wherefore, John Andrew Koskinen by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office,” it states.

The Committee says that impeachment of John Koskinen will “demonstrate to the American people that the IRS is under repair, and signal that Executive Branch officials who violate the public trust will be held accountable.”

The Committee contends that John Koskinen violated the public trust in the following specific ways:

  • Failed to comply with a subpoena resulting in destruction of key evidenceCommissioner Koskinen failed to locate and preserve IRS records in accordance with a congressional subpoena and an internal preservation order.  The IRS erased 422 backup tapes containing as many as 24,000 of Lois Lerner’s emails – key pieces of evidence that were destroyed on Koskinen’s watch.
  • Failed to testify truthfully and provided false and misleading information.  Commissioner Koskinen testified the IRS turned over all emails relevant to the congressional investigation, including all of Ms. Lerner’s emails.  When the agency determined Ms. Lerner’s emails were missing, Commissioner Koskinen testified the emails were unrecoverable.  These statements were false.
  • Failed to notify Congress that key evidence was missing.  The IRS knew Lois Lerner’s emails were missing in February 2014.  In fact, they were not missing; the IRS destroyed the emails on March 4, 2014.  The IRS did not notify Congress the emails were missing until June 2014 – four months later, and well after the White House and the Treasury Department were notified.

In July, Chairman Jason Chaffetz and 51 other congressional members, sent a letter to Obama requesting the removal of Koskinen. Of course, Obama, acting like the dictator that he is, completely ignored the letter, pushing the Committee to take more serious action.

In February of 2014, Obama told FOX News’s Bill O’Reilly that there was “not even a smidgeon of corruption,” at the IRS, a blatant lie since Lois Lerner herself admitted — at least initially — that the Tea Party had been improperly targeted and even apologized for it.

Then when given the opportunity to testify, Lerner twice refused, pleading the Fifth Amendment against the American citizens after she made a statement claiming innocence. Lerner was then held in contempt of Congress, but there was no further action taken by Republicans to bring her to justice. Lerner retired from the IRS during the investigation of the IRS scandal, receiving full pension and benefits by the Obama Regime, via the American taxpayer’s she was targeting.

Last week, the corrupt Obama Department of Justice announced that Lerner would face no criminal charges for her abuse of power.

The Committee released the following video outlining a timeline of the IRS’s tyranny against the American people, including a violation of First Amendment rights of Tea Party and other politically conservative groups.
